  1. The website is a poor representation of the hotel

I stayed at the Royal last weekend with my husband and our two boys. Within a few minutes of arriving out youngest had burnt his hand on a fan heater that was on the floor. It seemed to be there because the radiator wasn’t working properly. There were 3 massive cracks in the walls. (The kids asked if the room might fall down). We were put in a room above the DJ booth so the plan for some luxury and a good night’s sleep was a bit scuppered by the thumping music til midnight.
As for the food, I ordered Thai green curry with monkfish and prawns. It was lovely but had no chilli in it whatsoever. It had some sort of smoky flavour but no spices. Two people ordered burgers which they were fairly happy with. The wee one couldn’t eat his macaroni because it wasn’t crispy. I wondered if it came out of a box. The sorbet wasn’t sorbet but reminded me of the littlewoods raspberry ripple ice cream my gran used to love.
I mentioned some of our concerns, about the little ones burn, and the DJ booth. We got a pretty blank response.
